A New Paradigm of Leadership

Amit Goswamy took direction of Chakshu in 2002 with the same committed business acumen he lent to his prior ventures. Amit always seeks to build something valuable, and Chakshu poses his most exciting opportunity yet.

He has been a senior business executive for over 20 years and has never hesitated to choose unbeaten paths in pursuit of ideas he truly believes in. He co-founded Chakshu Research believing that the company could potentially revolutionize the treatment of cataracts and alleviate blindness throughout the world.

Lifework

Amit’s history with SpotLife, Inc., Mayasoft Corporation and Eastman Kodak demonstrates his penchant for leading-edge opportunities. Prior to co-founding Chakshu Research, Amit was the founding President and CEO of SpotLife, Inc.; ahead of YouTube, the leader in bringing personal video broadcasting to the mainstream. This was evident in SpotLife’s agreement with Microsoft Corp. to provide hosting services for users of Movie Maker. In fact, seventy-five percent of the personal computer cameras shipped worldwide contained SpotLife software.  The company was eventually acquired by Logitech in 2002.

Before SpotLife, Inc., Amit led Mayasoft Corporation as its President and CEO. This early enterprise application integration company was acquired by E.piphany, Inc. in 1999. Before this time, Amit was at the forefront of digital imaging. He led Eastman Kodak’s early entry into a dominant market position as the General Manager for the Professional Electronic Products division. While at Kodak, he won a $400 Million government contract—the single largest ever awarded in the company’s history.

Approach to Leadership

Upon leaving Kodak, Amit’s drive to build something valuable turned his sights toward startups; where he has even greater potential to add direct, measurable value and be responsible for his own success or failure. He fosters these opportunities with leadership by example—through committed team work and integrity. It is this type of inspiration that compels talented individuals to “come to the table,” to quickly reach consensus and collaborate for a common good. This integrity, balanced with his remarkable ability to master industry knowledge, enables his team to meet the demanding challenges at Chakshu Research.

Formal Education

Amit is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and holds an MBA from Stanford Business School.
